If you are just starting out on eBay it may seem a bit daunting.
The best thing to do is to just keep listing and enjoy the money you are making for now. You can get more advanced and automate your system once you become better acquainted with eBay and the selling process.
Have you done due diligence is looking for the same item already selling on eBay?
What does your competition look like? How many of the same or similar items are being sold at any one time? What related items are being sold (so you can expand your product offerings)? Will you get the money that you need to get out of this item for it to be profitable for you? Search around a bit and make sure that you understand what you are up against and how you should position your item.
Have you taken photos of your item yet? Remember that your photos have to be of good quality and show the product at all angles.
Are you keeping up with your emails? This is your chance to sell them on why they should buy the item and close the deal right there. Quality customer service can go a long way for building relationships with your customers and potential customers and can be the difference between a sale and no sale.
Great communication is just one sign of a great eBay seller.
Do your item descriptions tell the buyers everything that they need to know about your item?
Remember, honesty is always best here. Give a description of your item, why you are selling it, if there is anything wrong with it or any positive feedback that you have about the product. This is your sales pitch to your customer. It is not only a good selling practice but it will cut down on how many emails you will have to answer from customer questions.
Another key piece of information that all buyers want to know about is shipping. When will you send their item? How long will it take for them to get it? Do you ship to their country? Will you send the item via expedited shipping? How much will shipping cost?
Be prepared to have all of these answers detailed in your listing. You should have adequate packing materials so that the item is not damaged during shipping and you should have a presentable box that does NOT 4resemble a ball of tape!
Presentation speaks highly of the quality of operation you are running and can make the difference of someone buying from you again or not.
Always, always thank your customer and email them to make sure that they received the item and that it met their expectations. Trust me, if they do not get the item fast enough or it was not in the condition that they expected it to be in you will be getting plenty of emails and not all of them will be nice. Who knows, you may get an unexpected testimonial or find out something that you could be doing a little better.
And that brings me to our last point: being an excellent seller, more than anything else, is about providing top notch, quality customer service. Your future business could be riding on it and every point of contact that you have with customers has to keep their experience as positive as possible.
